Press Release – 2024 Gala Inductees
The Board of Directors of the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the following inductees to be honoured at our 2024 Gala Induction Ceremony:
Inductees
Roxanne Curtis – Builder – Lacrosse
- Coach, Sinclair Secondary School: Won 9 LOSSA and 4 OFSAA Girls’ Field Lacrosse titles
- Coach, Team Ontario: Won 4 consecutive national titles with U-20 Women’s Field Lacrosse team
- Coach, Team Canada: Bronze Medal – U-19 Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championships (1999)
Cam Stones – Athlete – Bobsleigh
- 22 World Cup podium finishes (2016-2022) including 4 Gold Medals in four-man competitions
- 2019 World Championships: Silver Medal (two-man) and Bronze Medal (four-man) (Whistler, BC)
- 2-time Olympian (2018 and 2022); Won Bronze Medal (four-man) at Beijing Winter Games in 2022
1984 Whitby Warriors – Team – Lacrosse
- 1984 Minto Cup Canadian Jr A champions – Second Whitby team to win a National Jr A title (1980)
- Regular Season: 22 wins vs 2 losses – 421 goals in 24 games; 5 players in Top 10 of league scoring
- Ontario Playoffs: 12 wins vs 1 loss; Minto Cup: Defeated New Westminster 16-8 in a one-game final
