Wilmot Gates

Wilmot was born in Pickering Township in 1926 and received his education at Cherrywood Public, Pickering Continuation and Whitby High Schools. His sports career included Track and Field at Whitby High as well as hockey, playing with the Whitby Juvenile Ontario Champs in 1944 and the Whitby Red Wing Ontario Champs in 1945-1946.  He also played Intermediate level hockey in Whitby, Pickering, West Hill, Markham and Stouffville.

Wilmot’s working career included 25 years of dairy farming, 7 years as the manager of Whitevale Golf Club, and working at Spring Lakes Golf Club in Stouffville until his retirement.
