Glenn was born in North York, Ontario in 1962 and began his judo career at the Whitby Recreational Facility in 1973 under 5th Dan, Charlie Formosa.
From 1975 to 1981, he was affiliated with the Formokan Judo Club, again under the tutelage of Charlie Formosa, and was the Canadian Junior Champion in 1978 and 1979 in the 132-pound and 143-pound categories respectively. Working out of the Waterloo Judo Club from 1981 to 1983 under 6th Dan, Wayne Erdman, Glenn won the Canadian Youth Championship and placed 3rd in the Canada Cup Senior, both in the 156-pound category.
From 1983 until his retirement in 1988, Glenn was trained by 6th Dan Hiroshi Nakamura at the Shidokan Judo Club. During that period, he was Canadian Senior Champion in 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1988 in the 156-pound class. In 1984 at the Olympics in Los Angeles, Glenn placed 5th in the 156-pound category. At the 1985 Universiade in Japan, Glenn was 2nd in the 172-pound class, and in 1986 he was 5th in the Kano Cup Meet in Japan and 3rd at the World University Championships, both in the 172-pound class.
Glenn’s final major competition was at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988.
