Dave Cruickshank was born in Owen Sound and received his elementary education at Victoria and Hillcrest Public Schools. He completed his high school education at West Hill Collegiate and proceeded to graduate from the Ontario Fire College. As well as playing vital role with the 1980 Minto Cup champion Whitby CBC Builders, Dave played for Canada in the Australian Cup where he was given the honour of MVP. Dave also played semi-pro lacrosse and was an MVP in Masters Lacrosse.
He is a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and a member of the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame.
