Larry was born in Toronto and moved to the Whitby area in 1929 at the age of 4. From 1944 to 1946, he was a member of the RCNV. In addition to being a player with the 1946 Whitby Red Wings, Larry’s involvement in sport included refereeing hockey for the oha (Junior & Senior, and Junior & Senior “A” in Ontario as well the Maritime Hockey Assn. from 1946 to 1952.) While operating a BA service station in Whitby from 1953 to 1958, he sponsored a hockey team in the Mercantile League and an Ontario Finalist Ball Club. Larry was a charter member of the Whitby Curling Club and a member, Captain and Director of the Oshawa Golf Club and a member of the Oshawa Curling Club.
