Jack was born in Oshawa in 1927 and will be exactly 75 years old on the date of his induction. He moved with his family to Kinsale in 1931. He received his education from Kinsale Public, Brooklin Continuation and Ryerson Technical schools. Jack learned his hockey skills on outdoor ponds in the area and was invited to try out for the Junior “C” Whitby Red Wings, making the team, and of course playing for the Championship Club. He later played for teams in Brooklin, Brougham & Claremont. After graduation from Ryerson, with a mechanic’s license, Jack began working for his father’s farm implement business which later became a GM Dealership. He later joined Nurse Motors in Whitby as a service advisor followed by a stint with Williamson Pontiac Buick in Uxbridge as a service manager to his retirement in 1986. Jack married his wife, Ruth, in 1949 and they have raised 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys. Jack’s leisure life included 6 years with the County Town Singers, 10 years with the Brooklin Squares and involvement with the Greenwood Scout and Cub Movement, being Chairman of the Group Committee for several years.
