John Henderson was perhaps the most important cog in the Dunlops surge to the allan Cup and subsequently to the World Championship. A graduate of the Toronto Marlboro chain, he led a nomadic life following a season with the NHL Bost Bruins in 1954-55. He also tended the nets for Pittsburgh, Springfield, Syracuse and Hershey in the American League. A stringbean individual with a fine sense of humor, henderson was once considered the most agile goalie in professional hockey. With Boston, i 44 games he compiled a respectable 2.40 goals against average. In the NHL, he says one mistake is a catastrophe, while in Senior A, where defensive play is a bit looser and scores consequently a bit higher, life is a bit easier.
