Sid Smith

Sid Smith was born in 1925 and played minor hockey with the Columbus Boys League in Toronto. He turned pro with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1946 and was assigned to their minor affiliate, the Pittsburgh Hornets. He was subsequently promoted to the Leafs and played on three Stanley Cup Teams (in 1947-48, 1948-49 and 1950-51) and was named team captain in 1955-56. Sid won the Lady Byng Trophy twice, was on the 1st All-Star Team once and 2nd All-Star Team twice.

He joined the Whitby Dunlops in 1957 as playing coach and was with the team for the 1958 World Championships and the 1959 Allan Cup.
